Wesco, Missouri This pastel painting, Meramec River Valley, Wesco was inspired during a summer day trip to the headwaters of the Meramec River. I had just passed through the small river community of Wesco, Missouri, crossed over the Meramec River low water bridge and was driving along a rural road that somewhat parallels the river when I went over a rise to discover this scene of the entire river valley. Just looking at this finished painting brings back memories of the summer heat, the smell of the dusty road and hear the buzzing of thousands of cicadas. A perfect memory of an Ozark summer morning.
Meramec River Valley, was painted with the finest quality pastels available, and with proper care, will retain its beauty and value for future generations.
